The following is a list of goals the Comité would like to reach in 2004-2005, addressing the educational, economic, social and housing needs of families in this neighborhood. • Research the possibilities of low-income housing and co-housing in the Mesa area for Comité families. • Expand working partnership with other community agencies throughout the State. • Start a much needed after-school program for the children of the neighborhood, due to the lack of youth amenities in the area (i.e., Boys & Girls Club, YMCA). This would ideally include computer instruction, daily snacks, arts and crafts, and academic tutoring. • Develop a childcare co-op for 2–4 year-olds in the afternoons. • Develop a community technology center. • Develop closer ties to appropriate City departments and community agencies. • Start an economic development program for adults in this neighborhood such as a job bank and job training. • Start a micro-business venture utilizing the talents of our member families.
